Evaluation, data and technology for health programs and public agencies

Health departments, public agencies, healthcare organizations and nonprofits are asked to show results, report on time and make the most of limited funding. We bring evaluation, data and technology skills together, so programs can measure what matters and run on systems that work.

Problems we help solve

  • Showing results. A funder or agency needs evidence that a program is delivered as intended and makes a difference.
  • Knowing where to focus. Leaders must set priorities, but the evidence of need is scattered or out of date.
  • Reporting under pressure. Quarterly and annual reports take days of manual work, and the figures do not always agree.
  • Processes that hold services back. Referrals stall, records are incomplete and staff rely on workarounds.
  • Systems that do not connect. Program data sits in spreadsheets, case management tools and EHRs that do not share information.

Our health programs and evaluation services

Health technology and systems

Evaluation and reporting depend on the systems that hold the data. Our technology teams support the same organizations with:

How we deliver

  1. Scope. We agree the questions, the deliverables, the data and the people involved, and confirm everything in a written scope with costs in US dollars (USD).
  2. Plan. We prepare an evaluation, assessment, reporting or improvement plan with your team and your funder's requirements in view.
  3. Do the work with your staff. Your program team stays involved in collecting data, testing findings and shaping recommendations.
  4. Report. We deliver plain-language reports and briefings, and state the limits of what the evidence shows.
  5. Hand over. Tools, data sets and documentation are handed over so your team can repeat and build on the work.

Who does the work

Each engagement has a named lead who is responsible for its delivery. We match the team to the work: evaluation and program expertise for evaluation and assessment, and technical staff for data systems, dashboards and integrations. Résumés of the people proposed for a project are provided with proposals and on request.

Privacy and data handling

  • We ask for the least information needed and prefer de-identified or summary data.
  • Data is shared under a written agreement that sets out what is shared, how it is stored, who can access it and when it is returned or deleted.
  • If identifiable health information is unavoidable, we agree in writing how it is handled first, including a business associate agreement where HIPAA requires one.
  • Small numbers that could identify individuals are suppressed or grouped before results are shared.
  • Please do not send health information about individuals, passwords or confidential procurement documents through our website forms.

Working with agencies and prime contractors

Our health programs practice serves organizations nationwide. We have a particular interest in Maryland's public health programs and welcome conversations with state agencies, local health departments and prime contractors there and elsewhere.

  • Agencies and health departments: contact us about a planned evaluation, assessment or reporting project, or a solicitation you have issued.
  • Prime contractors: we are open to teaming and subcontracting where our services fit the scope. Tell us about the opportunity and the role you have in mind through our partnerships page or the health programs inquiry form.
  • Capability statement: download our capability statement (PDF), or request it through the same form.
  • Project examples: we do not publish client projects on this website. Examples of relevant past work are available on request through the same form.

Planning a program, an evaluation or a bid?

Tell us about the program, the questions you need answered, or the solicitation you are pursuing. We will reply to arrange a conversation, and we can send our capability statement.
